Overview
Aquarium Zen: Retro is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not create user accounts, collect personal information, or track your activity. This policy explains how the app handles your data, and also informs you about data that Apple may collect through the App Store, independently of us.
For information about supported accessibility features, see our Accessibility Statement.
Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Aquarium Zen: Retro operates entirely offline and does not:
- Collect, store, or transmit any personal data
- Require user accounts, registration, or sign-in
- Use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
- Access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, or any other device sensors
- Connect to the internet for any purpose
Local Data Storage
The app stores your preferences (such as fish count, background style, fish speed, screensaver timer, and focus timer settings) locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults system. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
- Is deleted when you uninstall the app
- Is not backed up to any external server
Third-Party Services
Aquarium Zen: Retro does not integrate with any third-party services, SDKs, APIs, or analytics platforms within the app itself. There are no third-party components in the app. (Note: this does not include Apple's own data collection through the App Store and iOS. See the section below.)
Data Collected by Apple Through the App Store
Although Aquarium Zen: Retro itself does not collect any personal information, Apple may collect certain data through the App Store and iOS itself, independently of us. This data is collected by Apple, not by us, and we do not have access to any personally identifiable information about individual users.
By default, when you download, install, or use any app on iOS (including Aquarium Zen: Retro), Apple may collect:
- Device and account identifiers, such as your device's hardware ID and IP address, logged together with your Apple Account at the time of download or install.
- Approximate location, derived from your IP address, used to determine app availability in your region and to help prevent fraud.
- App Store usage data, such as searches, content viewed, downloads, and interactions with App Store notifications and badges.
- Device information, such as device type, operating system version, available storage, and the age band associated with your Apple Account.
- Purchase and download history, used to process transactions and to compute a device trust score for fraud prevention.
- Personalized ads within the App Store, Apple News, and Stocks, based on your App Store search and download history.
We, as the developer, may also receive aggregated and anonymized statistics from Apple through App Store Connect, such as total download counts, country breakdowns, sales data, and (if you have opted in to share diagnostics with developers) anonymized crash reports. None of this developer-side data identifies you personally.
How to Control Apple's Data Collection
Apple gives you several options to limit or disable much of this collection. These settings are managed by Apple, not by us, and may change over time, but as of this writing you can:
- Disable Personalized Ads: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising and turn off Personalized Ads.
- Limit sharing of analytics with Apple: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements and turn off Share iPhone Analytics (and Share with App Developers if you do not want anonymized crash data shared with us).
- Reset your App Store advertising identifier: Go to Settings > Apps > App Store > Reset Identifier.
- Review and manage your Apple Account data: Visit privacy.apple.com to see, download, or request deletion of data Apple holds about you.
For more detail on Apple's own data practices, see Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy and Apple's App Store privacy disclosures at apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/app-store.
